Wei-Chun Lin's design for The Natural Colors residence showcases a unique approach to blending indoor and outdoor spaces. Inspired by the client's mature and gentle personality, the designer utilized natural stones and plain, elegant styles to create a harmonious environment. The use of solid and hollow bricks in the walls not only adds visual interest but also serves as ventilation for air conditioning, making the house suitable for coastal areas.
The TV wall, made of black-stroke rocks, creates a strong visual connection with the outdoor wall, seamlessly integrating the indoor and outdoor spaces. The irregular pavements of floor brick tiles in plain colors add a relaxing and interesting atmosphere to the interior. The overall design aims to symbolize the growth of plants deeply rooted in the earth, providing residents with an extraordinary atmosphere that connects them to the sky, earth, and walls.
Measuring 450 square meters, The Natural Colors residence offers a complete and indispensable living experience through the skillful combination of humanized design and natural landscapes in the courtyard. The meticulous attention to detail and extensive research on factors such as daylight reception have resulted in an ideal atmosphere and expression of home.
One of the design's notable features is the black-framed glass door in the open space, which connects the kitchen with the rest of the indoor area while preventing cooking smells from spreading. The round dining table, situated beneath a simple-style ceiling, serves as a gathering space for the family and acts as a transitional area between the living room, kitchen, and staircase. The grooved rectangular section on the ceiling accommodates lighting and air conditioning, with partial lighting at night to save energy. LED lights are also installed in the sink, serving both the bathroom and dining room.
The Natural Colors residence was completed in Changhua County, Taiwan. It showcases the designer's dedication to creating a space that reflects the client's personality and integrates seamlessly with the surrounding environment. This design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017, recognizing its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness in incorporating art, science, design, and technology to improve quality of life.
